When a crime occurs, there is an understandable desire for answers. Unfortunately, these answers may take a significant amount of time to uncover. Despite this, a man in North Carolina was recently arrested in connection to an alleged murder just hours after the deceased victim’s body was discovered.

The incident that led to the man’s arrest reportedly happened just after 5 a.m. on a day in early May. Police reportedly responded to the home of a 78-year-old woman after receiving reports of an alarm at the residence. Responding officers allegedly discovered the woman’s body inside her home, and police believed that she was stabbed during a robbery.

Police claim to have caught the alleged intruder on surveillance video and made an arrest on the afternoon of the same day. The 27-year-old man accused of her death reportedly knew the victim as they lived in the same community. In addition to first-degree murder, the man is also charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree burglary. It is unclear what property is believed to have been stolen from the home.

The North Carolina man now charged with murder and other crimes may be unsure of his options following his arrest. Additionally, many people who have little legal training and experience are unable to recognize unlawful treatment or appropriately respond to it if such treatment is identified. As such, most people facing criminal accusations want an attorney with experience with such cases on their side. Such a professional can ensure that defendants have the necessary information to allow them to make informed decisions regarding how their case will proceed.
