It is not uncommon for drivers to make a mistake. For example, a driver annoyed with a smaller moving vehicle could easily make a mistake when it comes to deciding whether to pass another vehicle. The incident happened on New Year’s Eve. Police say that a 28-year-old man driving a sports utility vehicle drove left of center in an attempt to pass a slow moving vehicle. Unfortunately, his SUV allegedly collided head-on with an oncoming sedan.
Police say that when they arrived at the scene, they discovered the male driver a short distance away from his overturned vehicle. He was uninjured. The driver of the sedan reportedly suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Reports indicate that both vehicles were destroyed in the collision. The SUV driver has since been arrested.
In addition to a charge of DWI, the man is also charged with driving with no insurance, a passing violation and speeding. It is unclear how police made the determination that the man was under the influence of alcohol or what his blood alcohol content was at the time of the collision.
