For many people, it is hard to fathom that an entire family’s world can come crashing down in a matter of seconds. In fact, drivers who fail to remain vigilant at all times can easily cause an accident with life-changing consequences in which victims have no time to respond. Unfortunately, a fatal crash in North Carolina has likely changed the lives of the victims forever.

The incident happened one night in late March. According to reports, the driver of a tractor-trailer hauling a logging trailer that was empty failed to stop at a stop sign at a North North Carolina intersection. As a result, the truck is said to have struck a sports utility vehicle.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 34-year-old woman, died at the scene. The driver and three children, ages 11, 6 and 4, are listed in critical condition following the crash. Reports describe the driver of the tractor-trailer as being OK. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, charges are pending.

As a result of the fatal crash, the family of the deceased woman is now left to cope with her unexpected loss. Additionally, three children and a man are likely facing a lengthy recovery as a result of the injuries they suffered. To ensure that they are able to pursue the medical care they need and to cover the complications resulting from lost wages, the victims and their family members may choose to pursue damages against the driver and any separate owner of the tractor-trailer. If they can prove that the North Carolina accident was the result of negligence, they could receive a monetary award that will allow them to focus on their physical and emotional recovery rather than their ability to pay their bills.
