Rollover crash leads to DUI arrest

Drunk driving is one of the most reckless and dangerous things a person can do. Yet, those who consume alcohol regularly may not be aware when they’ve had too much and may think they are fine to get behind the wheel. Driver charged with DUI 

Recently in Ashe County, a man was arrested after he wrecked his vehicle. The incident happened at night near Crumpler. According to reports from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, an officer was patrolling in the area and said a vehicle passed him at a high rate of speed. The officer claimed the car sped away when he tried to approach and make a traffic stop.  

Allegedly, the vehicle was located a few miles away, resting on its top with smoke coming out of the engine. Reports said the driver was able to exit the vehicle and was examined for injuries. Officers suspected the driver of being under the influence of alcohol and arrested him. Reportedly, he was charged with driving while impaired, open container and several other charges.
